This book is a memoir in poetry—poems that describe how, for years, I went through life with a bottle in one hand and a man in the other, and how through sobriety I became a woman who is no longer empty inside and who has no need to escape reality.

It describes a decades-long journey of self-discovery, of connections, of surviving incredible pain, and of waking up to my life. It’s the journey the AA program makes possible, a journey that seems to be a requirement for continuous sobriety.
